eBay Auction of the Day: For Sale: One mint condition Right to Marry.
To protest New York’s recent rejection of equal rights for all its tax-paying citizens, Jamie Frevele dediced to put her own right to marry on the auction block:
I’m an unmarried heterosexual woman, and since I probably won’t be using my right to get married, I would like to give it away. I would like to sell it to the highest bidder and donate the proceeds to an organization that supports LGBT rights since the government designed to protect all of us is picking and choosing based on what they think is icky, weird, or unknown to them.
Using “gay” on the Internet to make a point: UR doing it rite.

erikavw:fuckyeahhlove:ieathellokitty:
On December 2nd 2009, New York rejected the bill that would allow thousands of couples the right to equal marriage.
Without marriage equality, these couples are being denied over 1,300 benefits a heterosexual couple would have, no questions asked. These include seeing a loved on on their death bed (there was just a case where a woman died without seeing her partner or adopted children because they could not be married), health benefits as well as who gets custody of a child after a parent dies.
Technically, under the Bill of Human Rights, we should have these privileges and rights. By not extending them to all GLBT people, the USA is in violation of both the 2nd and 16th article.
On December 9th I am asking you to keep silent in protest of this unfair vote. Just for 24 hours or less if you really must talk. Make signs, draw equality signs on your hands…do what you will. Just make people see how this is an injustice on NY’s behalf. We recognize marriages from elsewhere but we do not preform them.
